The Color of August

Another month has come and gone. This year more then ever, I find myself resentful of all the stores telling me that summer is over. I still have one more month, thank you very much! Yes it gets on my nerves to see christmas ornaments on display already, but not as much as all the sale signs on patio furniture and plastic margarita glasses. I'm not ready to buy school supplies just yet.

August is ahead of us and we still have plenty of summer left!

The Color of July

I guess Summer has been here for a little while, but it never really feels like summer to me until July. Growing up it was always the month I looked forward to the most, probably because its my birthday month :) Since I have already picked white twice this year for a color focus I decided to go with red, brass and blue. I associate brass with old american memorabilia for some reason so it seemed like a good fit. We'll se if I can find any brass to photograph.

Red- Brass-Blue

The thing I love the most about summer is the sense of adventure. As a kid, summer days were spent in our tree house or chasing lizards through the grass. My sister and I would ride our bikes thru the fairgrounds and explore the mysteries within. Oh to be free for an entire summer. I may still have to work, but I hope to fill this summer with many new adventures. What about you?

Color of June: Inspiration

I'm diverting from the norm a little, hope you don't mind. I was exploring some art online and found some great work that happened to be in June's color scheme. I found quite a few pieces by Alice X. Zhang that shared this pallet. Love them!

Top Right: "Burning Water"by Quiccs Maiquez
Bottom Left: "Lonely" by Ariana Perez

Color of June No. 1

This week I'm thankful for:

A new orange dress
Having co-workers I can laugh with
Watching my vegetable garden come to life
Waking up to chirping birds
Yummy BBQ

I'm so sad that this month is almost gone. June's color scheme has been one of my favorites yet. My biggest enemy will always be time. Im currently working on a way to get by with no sleep on any given night. My hurdle right now is the money needed for that much coffee.

I will say that I did stop my car the other day when I saw an orang scooter, but the pictures didn't come out to well. I'm gonna call it a win for turning the car around.

Color Of June

It's so funny to me how my tastes have changed over the years. I used to love rich dark colors, but lately have found my self drawn to all things bright and vibrant.

This month is going to be all about capturing the moment. I am beginning to realize that I see great shots all the time, but I don't make the extra effort required to capture them. So many times I see things as I drive and think "Oh that would be a great photo" or "That van is the perfect color orange for this month", but I don't stop the car. It would only take a few minutes. I can think of at least three times in the last week that I have regretted letting the shot slip away.

I'm not letting life pass me by, I'm passing by life......or at least I was.

Color of May No. 3

This week I'm thankful for:

Fresh cut grass
Around 7pm in my living room when the sun dances through the leaves
"Good Earth" Tea
A Mom who takes time to just listen
Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccinos (the only one I will have all year, but so yummy)

I realize that technically it is no longer May, but I wanted to post these photos because they mostly fall in May's color scheme. I have to admit that gathering shots for this month was more difficult then I was expecting, but in the end I did get a few. I wanted to take more pictures of the asparagus, but my husband kept giving me "The Look" while standing with the grocery cart in the middle of the produce section. :)

The Color of May

My colors for this month may need some explanation.

  • Blue Gray - Is for rain
  • White - Is for the trees that bloom outside my house
  • Yellow Green - Is for the new little plants growing in my garden

I did a pretty pore job last month keeping up with my "Colors of Life" series. I really enjoy taking pictures, but I was having a hard time fitting it in. Since I take all my photos with my iPhone I don't have any excuses, my camera is always with me. We'll see how May goes. I'm looking forward to finding some rain puddles.

I love knitting. I haven't had a chance to talk about it much yet, but its true. There is something so wonderful about using your hands to create something both beautiful and functional. I love the feel of the yarn as it slips between my fingers, sometimes course sometimes soft. I'll be sharing something I have just finished knitting very soon. I hope you have a lovely and relaxing weekend, I know I will.
