Joyful Inspiration

I came across an Etsey store called The Joyful Shop on Pinterest over the weekend and was so inspired.  The graphics are cute and simple and I love the fonts.

I know a handful of people that read through the Bible every year with a specific topic in mind. The idea is to come to the end of the year with a Godly perspective on your chosen topic. I have never studied my Bible in this way before, but seeing this art I realize I want to have a true understanding of joy. I started marking every reference to joy during my quite time this morning in my Bible and will continue until I get all the way to the end.

I'm really excited to see what the Holy Spirt will teach me and I have a feeling that I might find some art inspiration of my own along the way.

Butterflies in Bloom

I adore butterflies! Whenever I see a butterfly flitter across my path I feel as though joy incarnate has graced me with it's presence. My heart lifts as I watch this beautiful creature fly thru the air like it was dancing to a happy little tune.

I have been dying to visit the "Butterflies in Bloom" exhibit at our zoo all summer and this last weekend we finally got the chance to go.

I could have stayed with the butterflies all day. Spending the afternoon at the zoo was one of the highlights of my summer. Besides the glorious time I had with the butterflies, we got to see the rest of the animals at the zoo, what fun. As soon as we walked thru the gates I was off and running to snap photos of any, and every, animal I could find. I do believe I heard my son comment to my husband that I was "just like a kid".

I'm excited with all the great reference photos I was able to collect. I have enough sketching material to last me a good long while. I have been attempting to draw on a some what regular basis, but inspiration had been hard to come by. This trip was just what I needed.

Here's hopping there is a happy little tune in your head that you can dance to throughout your week.

The Color of August

Another month has come and gone. This year more then ever, I find myself resentful of all the stores telling me that summer is over. I still have one more month, thank you very much! Yes it gets on my nerves to see christmas ornaments on display already, but not as much as all the sale signs on patio furniture and plastic margarita glasses. I'm not ready to buy school supplies just yet.

August is ahead of us and we still have plenty of summer left!
